I have been practising as a psychotherapist for over 10 years having qualified with an M.A from the Karuna Institute and offer long and short term therapy to adult individuals.
I have additional training in trauma work and pre and perinatal psychology which explores the impact of early patterning in our lives from womb and birth experiences.
Whilst people may have many different reasons for coming to therapy a common theme is that of suffering which may be experienced as unhappiness, dissatisfaction, sadness, anxiety etc.
We may be able to point to a particular reason for that suffering such as a past or current trauma or abuse, bereavement, relationship problems, problems adapting to change of circumstances such as ill health in ourselves or a loved one, job loss, separation or divorce,-the list can be endless!
Sometimes it may be difficult to point the finger at a particular cause,-we can experience a more general feeling of yearning or longing, a disconnection which can be hard to identify from the outside.
Whatever the reason, the focus of the work is to help you develop /awareness/ of the ways in which you relate to whatever you bring in /the present moment./ This may involve exploring thoughts, feelings, attitudes and beliefs, energy processes and the ways in which these may be reflected in the body.In gently allowing these reactions we may discover familiar patterns that have been laid down since childhood that have become stuck or second nature. We gain insight into the origin of these patterns which are often formed as a protection to defend against pain, and see their connections to your life in the present.
In giving compassionate space to your experience there is the possibility of connection to your own inherent wisdom enabling you to live your live with greater flexibility and authenticity.
Embarking on therapy can seem daunting,- acknowledging pain perhaps that you have previously kept hidden, but it can also be a rich and deeply transformative journey. We work at your own pace, identifying and developing resources to support the work and to bring awareness to existing health.
I aim to offer a safe, confidential and non judgemental presence to facilitate
that process.
