I am a highly experienced person-centred and integrative counsellor with over ten years of experience. I work with individual adults and young people aged 16 and over. I am fully qualified and hold an advanced post graduate Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling from Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy. In counselling, I provide you with a confidential and safe space to unpack and explore the issues that have become too much for you to manage alone. Together, we build a trusting and reliable relationship where you can feel free to express yourself without fear of judgement.
Being an integrative therapist means that whatever you may bring to therapy, we can work together to explore and understand the past, make sense of the present and offer ways to support you going forwards. I work creatively and also bring in somatic approaches and compassion focussed mindfulness, if appropriate. These can be particularly helpful if you are experiencing anxiety. I am also qualified to work from an ecological perspective, outdoors in nature, which can be very supportive for grounding and calming your nervous system, improving overall wellbeing and exploring deeper existential themes such as life transitions, identity, mortality and more.
Some of the issues I can help you with:
- depression
- anxiety
- relationship and family difficulties
- self esteem
- domestic abuse
- bereavement
- loss/grief
- life changes/ transitions
- self exploration/development
- climate distress
- chronic/life limiting illness
- disordered eating
- identity issues
In the past I have worked in a substance misuse service, domestic abuse service and with cancer and life threatening conditions, plus in educational settings. As well as running a private practice, I teach on the Foundation training at BCPC and am the founding Director of an ecotherapy service. I hold an additional Post Qualifying Diploma in working with Children and Young People and undertake regular professional development to support my growth and learning as a practitioner.
I know that often the hardest step is reaching out, so you can either email or text me to arrange a free 15 minute phone call to answer any questions you may have. Or, you can book an initial consultation (50 minutes) which is offered at a reduced rate. In that session, we would discuss the duration of therapy along with your needs and hopes for our work together. Sessions thereafter are usually weekly at the same time and run for 50 minutes.
