Alex JephsonAlex initially trained as a Physiotherapist at King’s College London gaining her university degree in 1998. She spent the next 8 years working in London in both NHS and private practices,  specialising in musculoskeletal, orthopaedics and occupational health. Alex first discovered Pilates during her time as a physiotherapist seeing the benefits that Pilates practice had on the  long term rehabilitation of her clients. She initially underwent Pilates training with the Australian  Physiotherapy Pilates institute(APPI) in 2005.

Alex then moved to Bermuda with her husband following his work and started a family. Whilst  abroad she enjoyed the benefits of practicing Pilates and yoga herself and never felt better. On returning to the UK she completed her matwork training and qualifications with the APPI 2012 and conversion course to Body Control Pilates in 2013 and began teaching weekly Pilates matwork  classes. Alex did not feel that her matwork felt complete without linking her practice to the equipment and so went on to further train and qualify to teach beginners and intermediate levels on the Reformer and Cadillac equipment. Alex has also since attended many courses to update her continued professional development including Pilates for better bone health, scoliosis, equestrians and post-natal amongst others.

She is a friendly and professional Pilates instructor who is passionate about sharing the benefits of moving well and improved postural awareness in her classes. She enjoys using her background in physiotherapy to help her adapt and modify traditional Pilates exercises to suit individual needs whilst always staying true to the Pilates principles and maintaining a challenge. She wholeheartedly believes, as Joseph Pilates said, that “change happens through movement and  movement heals”.
